Laura
My name is Laura. I was born at 30 weeks gestation and I weighed only 2 pounds and 10 ounces at birth! Now I am 8 years old, and I love to play "nicu" with my siblings. We pretend we are nurses and doctors, taking care of our preemie patients who are our dolls and stuffed animals. I love to read and take care of others! I came up the the name Tucky Ducky and did a lot of work with the design of the logo.
Jacob
Laura and I are twins. I was the bigger baby when we were born, weighing 3 pounds and 3 ounces. But, now we are about the same size. I love to build and design things like my dad, and I am happiest when I am working hard. Everyone in my family says I'm the fastest knitter!
Noel
I'm Noel, and I am six years old. I was born full term, at 37 weeks, and I weighed 5 pounds, 7 ounces. I am just learning to knit from my older sister, and I think it is great fun! I love sheep and sometimes I put my stuffed lamb in our pretend 'nicu'. I also love to go to new places and meet new people. I am always up for an adventure!
Mark
Sometimes our little brother, Mark, helps us with our knitting, but mostly you could find him busy building legos. Mark has always kept us laughing, and can eat more bananas than anyone we know! Mark is the giant in our family, having been born at 38 weeks, weighing 7 pounds, 6 ounces!
Katie
When our baby sister, Katie, was born she weighed only 1 pound and 11 ounces. She was 25 weeks gestation and spent the next 3 months in the neonatal intensive care unit. She had many difficult days in the hospital, including two surgeries, but she came home a few days before her due date and has been home ever since. She is now a perfectly healthy and normal three-year-old, and loves to pretend to be a nicu nurse with the rest of us. Her eyeglasses and the scars on her hands and feet (from pokes) and side (from heart surgery) are the only reminders she has left from her prematurity.
Dad and Mom
Dad is a product designer and he is teaching us how to draw, design, and make things. He is the leader in our family and he teaches us about God. Mom is our home school teacher. She learned to knit hats with a loom while Katie was in the hospital, and then she taught us. She designed this blog and we all worked together on the Tucky Ducky logo.
